Motor replacement · Brisbane northside

Garage door motor and drive unit replacement — when it’s genuinely time.

Most residential drive units run 10–15 years before parts get hard to find. When yours has reached that point, we match a suitable replacement to the door and set it up properly. When it hasn’t, we say so.

When replacement makes sense

Signs a drive unit has reached the end.

  1. 01

    Parts no longer practical

Logic boards, gears and drives for older models eventually dry up. When the part isn’t available at a sensible price, replacement wins.

  2. 02

    Repeated faults

A unit that has had two or three repairs in a year is telling you something.

  3. 03

Stripped gears or a burnt motor

Often the result of years lifting an unbalanced door. Repairable on some units; on others the repair costs close to a new opener.

  4. 04

Failed logic board on an old unit

Boards for units past 15 years are frequently unobtainable.

  5. 05

    Safety features missing

Very old openers without safety reverse or beams. Replacing them is as much about safety as convenience.

  6. 06

You want features it can’t do

Phone control, battery backup, quieter running. Sometimes the honest answer is that the old unit will never do it.

Repair or replace

We look before we recommend.

  • Balanced

door checked before the new motor goes on

A humming, clicking or dead opener is not automatically a dead opener. We check the door by hand first — a lot of “failed motors” are healthy motors that can't lift a door with a broken spring — then the unit itself. If it can be repaired sensibly, you'll get that price. If it can't, you'll get the replacement price. Often you'll get both.

Matched to the door.

A replacement opener is sized to the door’s weight and type: rail-mounted for sectional and tilt doors, drum-mounted for roller doors. The door is balanced and the new unit’s force and limits set so it isn’t straining from day one.

Set up, not just bolted on.

Remotes coded, wall button fitted, safety beams aligned, and phone control connected where supported. The old unit is removed and taken away.

How it works

Straightforward from the first call.

  1. 01

    Tell us what it’s doing

Call or send an enquiry. We'll ask how old the door is, what happened before the fault, and whether anything's been tried.

  2. 02

    We inspect it properly

The whole door system — not just the part that looks broken. Developing wear gets pointed out, not hidden.

  3. 03

    You get the price first

What's wrong, what needs doing now, what can wait. Then the price. No pressure to proceed.

  4. 04

    Fixed, often on the spot

If parts are on the van, the repair is usually done the same visit. If not, we return promptly — generally within a couple of days.

  • It depends on the door type, the unit that suits it and whether the door needs any work first. We look at the door, then give you the price for a suitable opener installed and set up — before any work starts.
