Tilt door repairs · Brisbane northside
Tilt door repairs for the one-piece doors still on established streets.
A tilt door swings out and up on side arms with springs at each side. They're simple, strong, and — when the springs and pivots are looked after — go for decades. We repair them; we don't push you to replace them.

What's usually behind it
Tilt door faults, in order of how often we see them.
- 01
Spring failure or lost tension
The door becomes heavy, slams shut, or won’t stay open. Springs on both sides are replaced as a pair.
- 02
Worn pivot arms and bushes
Play in the pivots makes the door rattle, catch on the frame, or sit crooked when closed.
- 03
Bent or dry tracks
On tracked tilt doors, worn rollers and bent track cause the door to jam part way.
- 04
Lock and handle problems
Old T-handle locks seize, keys snap, and the latch rods go out of adjustment so the door won’t lock or won’t open.
- 05
Opener set-up
Tilt doors need the right opener and the right arm geometry. Poorly set up openers strain, stall and eventually fail.
Before you call
Safe to check before you call.
- 01
Does it stay where you put it?
A balanced tilt door holds at half open. If it slams down or flies up, the springs need attention — don’t keep using it.
- 02
Look at the side arms
Any visible bending, a missing bolt, or a pivot that moves in its bracket points to the arms or bushes.
- 03
Check the lock
If the handle turns but the door won’t release, the latch rods have slipped — a simple adjustment for us, and not a reason to force it.

Tilt door springs are under load at every position
The springs and arms on a tilt door carry the whole door. Please don’t remove or adjust them yourself, and keep hands and children clear of the side arms while the door moves.

Honest
call on automation suitability
Tilt doors are on a lot of established northside homes and most are structurally fine — it’s the springs, pivots and locks that wear. Those are straightforward to replace, and we carry the common parts. A tilt door only gets recommended for replacement when the panel itself is failing.
Springs replaced as a pair, then balanced.
Both side springs do the same work, so they’re replaced together. The door is then balanced so it holds at any point in its travel, and — if it’s automated — the opener is re-set so it isn’t doing the spring’s job.
Automating a tilt door.
Many tilt doors can be automated, but the opener and arm geometry have to suit the door. We’ll tell you honestly whether yours is a good candidate.

How it works
Straightforward from the first call.
- 01
Tell us what it’s doing
Call or send an enquiry. We'll ask how old the door is, what happened before the fault, and whether anything's been tried.
- 02
We inspect it properly
The whole door system — not just the part that looks broken. Developing wear gets pointed out, not hidden.
- 03
You get the price first
What's wrong, what needs doing now, what can wait. Then the price. No pressure to proceed.
- 04
Fixed, often on the spot
If parts are on the van, the repair is usually done the same visit. If not, we return promptly — generally within a couple of days.
