Rollers & hinges · Brisbane northside

Rollers and hinges — the small parts that make a door run like new.

Cracked, seized or worn rollers are behind most noisy, rough-running sectional doors. A new set is inexpensive, on the van, and transforms an older door — usually in the same visit as a service.

  • Hinges and brackets
  • Often part of a service

How to tell

Signs the rollers or hinges are worn.

  1. 01

    Grinding or squealing

Dry or seized rollers dragging in the track.

  2. 02

    Shuddering on the way up

Cracked roller wheels or bent stems catch as they pass track joints.

  3. 03

    Roller out of the track

A wheel has broken off its stem; the panel it held drops or jams.

  4. 04

    Visible cracks or flat spots

Look at the rollers along the side of the door: cracked nylon, rusted steel, wheels that don’t spin.

  5. 05

    Loose or cracked hinges

Hinges between the panels flex and crack; the panels sag or rattle.

  6. 06

    Play at the ends

Worn roller stems let the door move sideways in the track.

How we replace them

A full set, not one.

    typical, with a service

Rollers wear together, so we replace the set — typically nylon with sealed bearings for a quieter, longer-lasting door. Hinges are replaced where cracked or worn, and the bottom brackets checked (they’re under cable tension, so that part isn’t DIY).

Usually with a service.

Rollers and hinges are most often replaced as part of a service: lubrication, hardware tightened, opener adjusted. Done together, an older door goes from noisy and rough to nearly silent in about an hour.

How it works

Straightforward from the first call.

  1. 01

    Tell us what it’s doing

Call or send an enquiry. We'll ask how old the door is, what happened before the fault, and whether anything's been tried.

  2. 02

    We inspect it properly

The whole door system — not just the part that looks broken. Developing wear gets pointed out, not hidden.

  3. 03

    You get the price first

What's wrong, what needs doing now, what can wait. Then the price. No pressure to proceed.

  4. 04

    Fixed, often on the spot

If parts are on the van, the repair is usually done the same visit. If not, we return promptly — generally within a couple of days.

  • Noise is the usual sign — grinding or squealing — along with a door that shudders or catches. Look along the sides: cracked, rusted or non-spinning rollers need replacing.
