Sectional door repairs · Brisbane northside
Sectional and panel-lift garage door repairs.
The most common door on newer northside homes, and the one with the most moving parts. Springs, cables, rollers, hinges, tracks and panels — we repair all of it, and check the rest while we’re there.

What's usually behind it
Where sectional doors fail.
- 01
Broken torsion spring
A loud bang, then a door too heavy to lift or an opener that hums and gives up. The single most common sectional door fault.
- 02
Cable off the drum or frayed
The door lifts unevenly, sits crooked at the bottom, or one side drops. Usually follows a spring problem or a worn drum.
- 03
Worn rollers and hinges
Grinding, squealing, a door that shudders on the way up. Cracked nylon rollers and tired hinges are cheap to replace and transform an older door.
- 04
Bent or misaligned track
A knock from a car or a loose bracket puts the track out — the door binds, jumps or stops part way.
- 05
Damaged panel
Dented, split or bowed panels from impact. Often a single panel can be replaced rather than the whole door.
- 06
Opener settings and safety beams
The door reverses, stops short or won’t close — frequently the opener reacting to a stiff door or a misaligned photo-eye.
Before you call
Safe to check before you call.
- 01
Look at the spring above the door
On most sectionals the torsion spring is on a shaft above the opening. A visible gap in the coils means it’s broken. Don’t touch it.
- 02
Check the cables at each side
Both should be taut and seated on the drums at the top. Slack, frayed or dangling cable — stop, and call.
- 03
Check the safety beams
Small sensors near the floor on each track. If the door won’t close, make sure nothing is blocking them and both are pointing at each other.

Springs and cables are not a DIY job
A sectional door’s torsion spring holds the door’s full weight. Unwinding, unbolting or cutting anything under that load can cause serious injury. Leave the door as it is and call.

One system, checked as a whole.

Same visit
for springs, cables, rollers and hinges when parts are on the van
1 panel
often all that needs replacing after a knock
Re-set
opener force and limits after every repair
Springs, cables, drums, rollers, hinges, tracks and the opener share the load on a sectional door. When one part fails it usually has a reason, so every repair starts with the whole door: how it balances by hand, where the wear is, and whether the opener has been compensating for a stiff door.
Springs sized to the door, then balanced.
A replacement spring is matched to the door's weight and cycle rating, not just swapped for something similar. After fitting, the door is balanced so it holds anywhere in its travel and the opener is re-set — that's what makes the repair last.
Panels: repair one, not replace all.
Impact damage usually affects one or two panels. Where a matching panel is available, replacing it is far more sensible than a new door. Where it isn’t, we’ll say so and talk through options.

Tell us what it’s doing
Call or send an enquiry. We'll ask how old the door is, what happened before the fault, and whether anything's been tried.
- 02
