Hit by a car · Brisbane northside
Backed into the garage door? It happens more than you’d think.
A knock from a car bends panels and pushes tracks out of line, and the door usually ends up jammed or crooked. Most of the time it’s repairable — often a single panel — but it needs making safe first.
- Made safe and stable first
- Single panels replaced where possible
- Tracks straightened or replaced

What usually gets damaged
What a car does to a garage door.
- 01
Bent or creased panels
The bottom one or two panels take the hit. Light dents can sometimes be dressed; creased panels are replaced individually.
- 02
Tracks pushed out
The vertical tracks bend or the brackets pull from the wall, so the door binds or jumps its rollers.
- 03
Rollers and hinges
Hinges twist, rollers pop out or snap under the sideways load.
- 04
Bottom seal and bracket
The bottom bracket — which carries the cable — can be bent, putting tension on the cable and spring.
- 05
Roller door curtain
On roller doors the curtain creases and won’t feed into the guides.
- 06
Opener arm or rail
If the door was moving or the car pushed it back, the opener arm bends or the rail bracket pulls.
Before you call
What to do right after.
- 01
Don’t operate the door
A bent track and a damaged bottom bracket put the spring and cable under uneven load. Pressing the button now can drop the door or pull the cable.
- 02
Move the car — if the door isn’t resting on it
If the door has come down on the car or is wedged against it, leave both where they are and call.

Photos help
A couple of photos of the panels, the tracks and the bottom corners let us bring the right parts and give a better idea of the repair on the phone.

The bottom bracket is under spring tension
The bracket at the bottom corner of a sectional door anchors the lifting cable. If it’s bent, the cable and spring are loaded unevenly. Don’t unbolt it, and don’t try to straighten anything yourself.

Safe, then straight, then honest about panels.

Matched
panels sourced where the profile is still made
Honest
if a new door is genuinely the better call
We stabilise the door, take the load off the spring safely, and get the tracks and rollers back where they should be. Then we look at the panels properly: which can be dressed, which need replacing, and whether a matching panel is available for your door.
One panel, not a new door.
Most impacts damage one or two panels. Where a matching panel is available — and it often is — replacing just those is far better value than a new door. If a match isn’t available, we’ll say so and talk through the options rather than pushing a replacement.
And the opener checked.
An impact often bends the opener arm or shifts the rail. We check and re-set the opener so it isn’t straining after the repair.

How it works
Straightforward from the first call.
- 01
Tell us what it’s doing
Call or send an enquiry. We'll ask how old the door is, what happened before the fault, and whether anything's been tried.
- 02
We inspect it properly
The whole door system — not just the part that looks broken. Developing wear gets pointed out, not hidden.
- 03
You get the price first
What's wrong, what needs doing now, what can wait. Then the price. No pressure to proceed.
- 04
Fixed, often on the spot
If parts are on the van, the repair is usually done the same visit. If not, we return promptly — generally within a couple of days.

0408 190 595Usually, yes. Tracks are straightened or replaced, rollers and hinges swapped, and damaged panels replaced individually where a match is available. A new door is the exception.
