Weather seals · Brisbane northside

Garage door seals — for the water, dust and leaves that get in.

The rubber seal along the bottom of the door perishes in Queensland sun, cracks, and stops sealing. Storm water, dust and the occasional gecko follow. Replacing it is quick, inexpensive and usually done with a service.

How to tell

Signs the seals have had it.

  1. 01

    Daylight under the door

Look from inside with the door closed. A line of light means the bottom seal is perished or the door isn’t seating.

  2. 02

    Water after storms

A wet strip along the floor inside the door.

  3. 03

    Dust and leaves

Constantly sweeping the garage? Wind is pushing debris under a failed seal.

  4. 04

    Cracked or hard rubber

The seal should be soft and flexible. Perished rubber is hard and cracked.

  5. 05

    Pests

Geckos, cockroaches and the odd cane toad take the gap as an invitation.

  6. 06

    Uneven floor

If the floor slopes, a standard seal won’t close the gap — a taller profile or a threshold seal does.

How we replace seals

The right profile, fitted properly.

  • Matched

  • Threshold

    seals for uneven floors

Bottom seals come in a range of profiles to suit different door retainers and floor gaps. We match the seal to the door and, where the floor is uneven, fit a taller profile or a threshold seal on the floor. Side and top seals are replaced where they’ve perished.

Part of a service, usually.

Seals are typically replaced during a service — while we’re already checking the door’s alignment, which is often part of why it isn’t sealing.

How it works

Straightforward from the first call.

  1. 01

    Tell us what it’s doing

Call or send an enquiry. We'll ask how old the door is, what happened before the fault, and whether anything's been tried.

  2. 02

    We inspect it properly

The whole door system — not just the part that looks broken. Developing wear gets pointed out, not hidden.

  3. 03

    You get the price first

What's wrong, what needs doing now, what can wait. Then the price. No pressure to proceed.

  4. 04

    Fixed, often on the spot

If parts are on the van, the repair is usually done the same visit. If not, we return promptly — generally within a couple of days.
